Privacy Policy

Your code is yours. Aggregated, anonymized telemetry funds the free tier · Pro has zero retention.

1. Who we are

Unchained Code is a free AI coding platform operated by WELINK TECH, a company registered with the Nanterre Trade and Companies Register under number 984 800 136 R.C.S. Nanterre, with registered office at 6 rue des Bateliers, 92110 Clichy, France (SIRET 98480013600017, EU VAT FR28984800136) ("Welink Tech", "we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why, how it is used, and the choices you have. Our contact address for privacy matters is free@unchainedcode.dev.

2. The short version

Your code is yours. We never sell your prompts, your conversations, or your projects. The free tier is funded by ads and sponsors, which means we use aggregated, anonymized usage analytics — never individual conversations — to demonstrate audience value. You can opt out of telemetry at any time, and Pro subscribers have zero data retention by default.

3. What we collect

We collect only what is needed to operate the Service:

  • Account data — email address, sign-in provider (Google or GitHub), invite code usage, and subscription status.
  • Usage telemetry — request counts, token usage, model routing decisions, session length, and interaction traces (prompt + output) on the free tier.
  • Technical data — IP address, browser and device information, and crash or error logs, collected by our hosting and analytics infrastructure.
  • Analytics data — page views and events such as sign-ups and form submissions, collected only after you consent to cookies (see Section 8).

4. How we use your data

We use data to:

  • Provide, operate, and secure the Service, including model routing and fraud prevention.
  • Measure and improve routing quality and model performance.
  • Display ads and provide aggregated, anonymized metrics to sponsors (free tier only).
  • Process payments and manage Pro subscriptions.
  • Respond to support and contact-form requests.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

5. Legal bases (GDPR)

Where the EU/EEA General Data Protection Regulation applies, we process personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Contract — to provide the Service you requested.
  • Legitimate interest — to secure the Service, prevent abuse, and improve routing, balanced against your rights.
  • Consent — for non-essential cookies, analytics, and the telemetry of individual interaction traces, which you may withdraw at any time.
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to process data by law.

6. How traces are handled

On the free tier, interaction traces (prompt + output) are scrubbed before any durable storage: API keys, passwords, tokens, JWTs, and other secrets are redacted automatically. Traces are then used in aggregate to improve routing quality and to measure anonymized stack distribution for sponsors. Individual traces are never exposed to sponsors or third parties.

Pro subscribers receive zero data retention by default: interaction traces are not recorded at all. Only the data required to operate the subscription (email, payment status) is stored.

7. Advertising & sponsors

The free tier shows sponsored messages and contextual ads. Advertising is matched locally against the topic of your session; we do not send your prompts or conversations to advertisers. Sponsors receive aggregate metrics only: active developers, verified ad impressions and click-through rates, and anonymized technology-stack distribution. No individual conversation can be reconstructed from these aggregates. Pro subscribers do not see ads.

8. Cookies & consent

We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 to measure usage and conversions. These set cookies only after you accept the cookie banner. You can decline, or withdraw consent at any time by clearing the stored consent in your browser. Essential functionality (the editor, authentication) does not depend on analytics cookies. Our cookie banner and consent preferences are described in the banner shown on first visit.

9. What we never do

We never:

  • Sell or share your prompts, code, conversations, or projects — in raw or semi-identifiable form.
  • Train models on your individual conversations without explicit consent.
  • Sell or share your email address.
  • Expose individual traces to sponsors, advertisers, or model providers.

10. Service providers & processors

We rely on a limited set of processors to operate the Service, bound by data-processing terms:

  • Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, and infrastructure.
  • Model providers — the open-weight and commercial inference providers we route to; they receive prompts and outputs transiently to generate completions.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery for the contact form.
  • Payment provider — subscription billing for Pro.
  • Google — analytics (only after consent).

11. Data retention

We retain account data while your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter as needed for legal and operational purposes. Aggregated analytics are retained for as long as needed for sponsor reporting. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time; deletion removes your stored projects, session records, and associated traces.

12. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, and to withdraw consent. EU/EEA and UK users have rights under the GDPR; California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise any of these rights, contact free@unchainedcode.dev. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

13. International transfers

We operate globally and use processors located in various countries, including the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside your region, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms, in accordance with applicable law.

14. Security

We apply industry-standard measures to protect data: secrets are scrubbed server-side before storage, credentials and tokens are encrypted in transit (TLS), and access to production data is limited to what is required to operate the Service. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

15. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page and, where appropriate, through the Service. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
