About the Unchained Code application

What Unchained Code does

Unchained Code is a free AI app builder and coding agent. You describe the web app you want in plain language. The agent then writes, runs, and previews real full-stack code right in your browser. Finally, it deploys the app with one click. No credit card, no subscription.

What is Unchained Code?

Unchained is an AI coding agent that runs on affordable open models instead of Anthropic and OpenAI. Same job — build, edit and deploy full-stack web apps — at a fraction of the cost. The saving is passed straight to you: use it free, free and open-access, not by your subscription.

In the browser
A Lovable-style editor: chat on the left, live preview on the right.
Real code
React, Node and a real terminal — not a toy sandbox.
One-click deploy
Push to GitHub, Vercel or Netlify when you are happy.

Why it's actually free

Most “free” plans are a countdown to a paywall. Here, free is real: unlimited chat plus 10 free build credits every day. Open-weight models make it cheap enough to fund with ads. Don't want ads? Pro ($20/m) removes them, adds priority, and unlocks unlimited builds. That's the whole business model — no dark patterns.

How it works

From your plain-language idea to a live, working application in seconds. Zero terminal, zero configuration.

3-Step Workflow: Describe Idea, Live Interactive Preview, One-Click Launch
1
Describe your app
Type what you want in plain language. No prompt engineering, no setup required.
2
Live Interactive Preview
Test and click around in the real responsive UI right in your browser or Mac.
3
Ship & Export
Deploy to GitHub, Vercel or Netlify in one click, or edit locally with the desktop app.
Built for simplicity & power

Skip the terminal headaches. Just build.

Most AI coding tools force you into complex command lines, broken npm installs, and confusing API key setups. Unchained gives you an instant visual workspace that works right out of the box.

Traditional Dev Terminal Errors vs Unchained Clean Visual Interface
Zero Terminal Frustration

No npm crashes, no Node version conflicts, no cryptic build errors blocking your progress.

Zero API Key Hassle

No credit card, no OpenAI billing caps. Free tier runs out-of-the-box powered by ethical developer sponsors.

Full Code Ownership

You are never locked in. Export real, clean React & Node source code to GitHub anytime in 1 click.

It reviews its own work

First drafts are never good enough. So it fixes them.

Every build ends with a senior code review: a second, stronger model reads the changes, hunts for broken imports, type errors, logic bugs, security holes and edge cases — then the agent reworks the code to the maximum standard and re-checks it. Not an unchecked first draft. Read the engineering architecture.

Autonomous Code Review & Auto-Fix Workflow
1
Code
A fast model writes the feature, file by file.
2
Review
A stronger model re-reads the diff like a staff engineer: imports, types, logic, security.
3
Fix & re-check
Findings go back to the coder, it reworks to max quality and re-verifies. Loop until clean.

The gap between "the AI generated some code" and "the code actually works" is that second pass. Unchained runs it automatically — no manual "now fix the bugs" prompt.

It remembers. It proves it works.

Every session builds on the last one.

Other agents re-discover your project from scratch and call it done the moment the build compiles. Unchained keeps a living memory of your stack, conventions and gotchas — and refuses to say done until the code has actually run.

Self-improving memory

After each task, the agent saves what it learned into a project memory. It records the stack, the conventions, the commands that break, and the files that matter. It reads that memory next session, so the next prompt starts where the last one left off.

Runtime proof, not vibes

A green build only proves the syntax is valid. Unchained probes the real endpoint and checks the status code, executes helpers with real inputs, and traces the button → action → state chain. No should work — only here's what ran and what it returned.

What people are building

From an idea in your head to a live app in one afternoon.

You don't need to know React, CSS, or what a "deploy pipeline" is. Describe what you want in plain language — a page, a form, a tool — and Unchained writes, runs, and ships it for you.

Questions, answered

Is Unchained Code really free?

Yes. Chat is free forever, and you get 10 free build credits every day — no credit card, no trial countdown. Open-weight models keep the free tier real. Pro ($20/m) removes ads, adds priority, and unlocks unlimited builds.

Which AI models does it use?

DeepSeek, Qwen, GLM, Kimi and MiniMax — open, OpenAI-compatible models that cost roughly 10× less per token than Anthropic or OpenAI. That cost gap is the entire reason Unchained can be free. The free tier runs on a rotating pool of these models for resilience; the paid Pro tier serves DeepSeek and Qwen first.

Why are these models so much cheaper?

They are open-weight models you can self-host or buy through providers competing on price, not lock-in. The quality for building web apps is close enough, and the price is a fraction of frontier models.

Do I need an API key?

No. The free tier works out of the box. If you already have a key for any OpenAI-compatible provider, you can bring it (BYOK) and run on your own credits.

Can I use it with Claude Code or VS Code?

Yes. Unchained is one engine with several surfaces: a browser builder, a desktop app for Mac, and a proxy for Claude Code / VS Code through npx unchained-code. Same engine, same free tier.

What can I build with it?

Full-stack web apps — landing pages, SaaS dashboards, internal tools, waitlists, portfolios. The agent writes, runs and previews the code in the browser, then deploys to GitHub, Vercel or Netlify.

Is the free tier really unlimited?

Chat is unlimited, free, forever. Builds use 10 free credits a day; after that, Pro ($20/m) unlocks unlimited builds. No lockouts, no credit wall — and you never lose your work.

How does Unchained make money?

Ads and sponsors on the free tier, plus a paid Pro tier with no ads and priority. The golden rule: if you pay, you never see an ad.

Does it review its own code?

Yes. After every build, a separate, stronger model reviews the changes like a senior engineer — broken imports, type errors, logic bugs, security holes, edge cases — then the agent reworks the code to the maximum standard and re-checks it. You get a corrected second pass, not an unchecked first draft.

Your ideas, unchained.

Start in the browser, or take it to the desktop. Either way: free to start, no card.
